Customized training programs to help your dog become calm, confident, and composed.
No doubt about that. Let's face it though: sometimes Fido can be a bit much. But don't sweat it - we're here to help.
Dogs are not robots.* They are sentient beings with personalities, quirks, triggers, and attitudes. This is what makes them our best friends, but also the reason they sometimes don't behave quite the way we want them to.
And that's okay. No matter what challenges you're facing...
We have seen it before, and have helped someone just like you. We can give you and your dog the tools to reach your training goals, with custom training programs for every dog.
* If you have a robot dog please still
contact us - that sounds really neat!
Our goal is to help pet parents and their pups bridge the species communication gap and in turn strengthen the human animal bond. Our focus in training is to teach boundaries with love and help shape a well behaved dog rather than an obedient dog who simply follows commands.
We teach dogs that finding calm is rewarding in and of itself because we know that dogs who are able to regulate their emotions are less likely to have lasting problematic behaviors.
We help dogs become confident because we know that confident dogs are happier dogs. They are well-adjusted, less anxious, better walkers, and more polite to house guests.
We use obedience commands as a tool to help dogs remain composed even when faced with new or stressful situations.
We do things a little differently, and your dog is definitely going to notice.
... but only for your dog.

Family owned and operated in Lewis Center, Ohio since 2017, Passion Four Paws is more than just a dog training center; we are your dog's second best friend. Our dedicated training and boarding facility is attached to our home, providing a familiar, low-stress environment for real-world learning. We specialize in building Calm, Confident, and Composed dogs through a highly structured, small-group (boutique) approach, ensuring individualized attention for a lifetime of success.
Our Lewis Center facility is attached to our home, nestled in a peaceful residential neighborhood. This setting provides your dog with a familiar, low-stress environment for training, yards with real grass for recreation, and daily walks through a neighborhood with all the same sights, smells, distractions, and triggers as yours. This is a warm, family environment that feels comfortable, not clinical.
Training success means practice in the real world. We intentionally proof training skills around essential, real-life distractions and agitators: everything from trains and trucks to wheelchairs and walkers. We choose field trips to visit based on your goals and your dog's readiness - restaurant patios, pet stores, parks, farms, outdoor markets, and more - ensuring your dog learns to remain focused and responsive wherever life takes them.
We operate as a boutique facility by design, focusing on small, intentional groups instead of a warehouse full of dogs. Every day is built around four essential pillars - Enrichment, Play, Training, and Decompression - along with a structured midday rest, because a tired dog is not a trained dog. This small-group model allows us to tailor the entire program around your dog's specific behavioral needs.
"Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened."
— Anatole France

We use a balanced, relationship-based training approach. Simply put, we teach with love, patience, and cookies, while also holding clear boundaries.
Our focus is on clear communication, structure, calm behavior, confidence, and real-life reliability. We want dogs to understand what is expected of them, feel safe following guidance, and learn skills that transfer into everyday home life.
We make program recommendations based on your dog's age, temperament, behavior, and your family's needs. If your dog requires foundational skills or socialization, options like Pup Academy or private lessons may be appropriate. However, complex behavioral issues like reactivity, resource guarding, or anxiety require the consistency and depth of an Immersion Program (Board & Train) to be properly addressed. We will guide you to the most effective option during the consultation.
E-collars may be used in certain programs, but only when they are appropriate for the dog, the owner, and the training goals.
Before introducing an e-collar, the dog must first understand basic obedience and the commands being reinforced. When used, we introduce it carefully and positively as a communication tool that helps create clarity, especially around distance, distractions, recall, and off-leash reliability.
E-collar training is not the right fit for every dog or every owner, so we only use it when both the dog and owner are comfortable and set up for success.
An Immersion day is structured around training, enrichment, socialization, real-world exposure, and decompression.
Dogs begin their day around 6:30 AM and wind down with lights out around 9 PM. Throughout the day, they receive multiple training sessions focused on their specific goals, along with some version of a field trip or real-world outing to practice those skills outside our facility.
Socialization is tailored to each dog, whether that means playgroups, one-on-one time with staff, or calm exposure around other dogs from a distance. All Immersion dogs also have built-in rest, including a midday decompression period, so they have time to process what they are learning.
Training does not end at pickup. All Immersion programs include a printed take-home plan and two private follow-up lessons: a transfer session at pickup, and an essential in-home lesson scheduled within about two weeks of the dog returning home. We also offer continued support for the lifetime of your dog. We promise to give you all the tools and clarity needed, but long-term success depends on your family's consistency, as dogs are contextual learners.
Your first steps will involve filling out a questionnaire so we can start learning about you, your dog, and your training goals. Then, we'll hold an in-person consultation to meet you and your dog. After that, we can schedule your dog's Immersion Program. A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking to reserve your dog's spot, with the remaining balance due at pickup.
Pup Academy is designed for young dogs aged 3 to 15 months, with puppies ideally starting early to benefit from critical early socialization. A typical day is highly structured and built around four pillars: enrichment, play, training, and decompression. Training includes leash work, place practice, recall, and real-life exposure. Your pup's day will also include midday nap time - this focus on decompression is key, as constant stimulation creates stress and poor choices.
Recommended attendance is 2 to 3 days per week to give your pup an opportunity to build essential skills. Enrollment is managed through an auto-billed monthly subscription based on the number of days you'd like your dog to attend. Pup Academy attendees receive benefits like free monthly group class meet-ups and discounts on other training, including private lessons and Immersion Programs.
